Search for a Star seeks MC, makeup artists

Do you have what it takes to host a reality television show? Then an opportunity has come for you to be the official MC of this year’s Sunbird Search for a Star (SSS).

E-Wallet and Sunbird Tourism, producers and sponsors of the show, respectively, will today conduct open auditions in Blantyre to find a possible host of the 2014 SSS.

The auditions will be held at Sunbird Mount Soche’s Njamba Room starting from 8:30am to noon.

“We basically need someone with a strong personality and stage presence; a good sense of humour and professionalism who will be the face of the show and embody the Sunbird Search for a Star ideals,”

Sunbird Tourism public relations manager, Akossa Mphepo, said.

The winner will be replacing last year’s host, VJ Malick aka Mr 265, a TV personality working with Times TV.

Meanwhile, Sunbird Tourism is also calling on the country’s fashion houses and makeup artists to dress and groom this year’s contestants.

“As we are looking for an MC, we are also calling on clothing boutiques for both men and women, hair and beauty salons for both sexes as well as make-up artists to provide clothing and grooming services for our 24 contestants,” she said.

Mphepo however, stressed that neither the service providers nor SSS management will be predisposed to pay the other but have a working agreement based on the fact that SSS will provide them with a platform to advertise their goods and services.

“We will acknowledge their efforts during the shows and allow them to hand out promotional materials to audience members. We urge all interested parties to call us or come through to Sunbird Tourism offices for further discussions,” said Mphepo.

SSS auditions will begin on July 21 at Sunbird Kuchawe in Zomba and will be followed by Mangochi at Sunbird Nkopola on July 23. Third on the list is Sunbird Mzuzu where auditions will take place on July 25.

In Lilongwe, auditions will be held at Sunbird Lilongwe on July 27, while in Salima at Sunbird Livingstonia Beach on July 29. Last on the list is Blantyre where auditions will be at Sunbird Mount Soche on July 31.
