Inspector General of Malawi Police Lot Dzonzi has redeployed some of his senior officers from all the regions, including police headquarters in Area 30, Lilongwe.

Those transferred at Area 30 include Senior Deputy Commissioner Innocent Bottomani who was officer in charge responsible for finance.

He goes back to the North to deputise Commissioner Wilson Matinga in the Northern Region.

Deputy national police public relations officer Senior Superintendent Kelvin Maigwa confirmed the movements, calling them as “normal in the police service.”

“Just like you, Mr. Chimgwede, NPL can decide to transfer you to Blantyre or even Mzuzu, I do not think that should attract questions,” he said refusing to give details.

But Area 30 sources said Bottomani was replaced by Senior Assistant Commissioner Ledford Kamphika who was heading Area 30 audit.

Kamphika once served in the finance portfolio apart from heading finance offices in Central and Southern regions at some point.

Officer in charge responsible for audit is now Senior Deputy Commissioner Effie Kaitano who was deputising Commissioner Paul Kanyama in the Southern Region.

In the North, Bottomani has replaced Agnes Gondwe who is destined for the Southern Region to replace Kaitano.
