Sico Logistics has donated K5 million to Blue Eagles Volleyball Club to help the team’s preparation for their forthcoming trip to Lesotho next month.

Sico business development manager Kennedy Kamkwamba said as a Malawian company they are proud to sponsor Blue Eagles.

“We got a request for assistance after they were struggling. As a Malawian company we decided to assist. While there in Lesotho, they will represent Malawi and will carry the national flag. We are proud to be associated with the development of volleyball and sports in the country,” he said

The company’s general manager Mathews Mughogho said the donation signifies their commitment to supporting security agency officers to improve their physical fitness and health.

“Their Lesotho trip does not only benefit the team but also exposes Malawi’s volleyball on international scene,” he said.

Receiving the cheque on behalf of the Inspector General Commissioner of Police responsible for Human Resource and Development Denis Chipao hailed the company, saying other stakeholders should emulate Sico gesture in supporting MPS activities.

“This is very welcome and it (the donation) will help the team in terms of logistics. We are appealing to more sponsors to come in and assist the team,” he said.

Blue Eagles Volleyball Club is set to depart for Lesotho on December 7 to participate in the Zone VI Games.

However, they are facing shortfall of their budget and are appealing for support from well-wishers.
