Second Deputy Speaker Aisha Mambo Adams yesterday ruled that Blantyre City South East legislator Sameer Suleman’s allegations against Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs Simplex Chithyola Banda be struck off the Hansard for lack of evidence.

In her ruling in Parliament yesterday, she said Suleman had failed to submit the evidence by 2pm as ordered by First Deputy Speaker Madalitso Kazombo on Tuesday.

She said: “I wish to inform the House that the honourable member has not submitted any evidence as ordered and I rule that whatever he said should be removed from the National Assembly official records.

“As per our rules and practice, I will not entertain any intervention comment on this particular ruling.”

Government chief whip Jacob Hara, while expressing satisfaction with the ruling, moved that the Business Committee should deliberate on the conduct of Suleman in the House. He said Suleman was fond of making unfounded allegations against others.

Earlier on Tuesday, Suleman alleged that Chithyola Banda misappropriated funds for a project under The Global Fund, as such, was not fit to manage the country’s kitty.
