Silver Strikers have met the 48-hour deadline to challenge Mighty Be Forward Wanderers’ player tapping allegations involving midfielder Timothy Chitedze who is in the Bankers’ camp.

Super League of Malawi (Sulom) treasurer Tiya Somba-Banda confirmed yesterday that Silver responded to the accusations on Wednesday.

Silver_celebrating“The necessary documents will be sent to the disciplinary committee members today and will sit over the weekend to make a determination,” said Somba-Banda who is standing in for general secretary Williams Banda.

On Sunday, Somba-Banda said Wanderers had complained that Chitedze was training with Silver without their consent.

“It has been established that the player in question, Timothy Chitedze, is indeed training with your club and he even played for Silver Strikers in the international friendly match with Caps United on March 1, 2015 at Silver Stadium of which we have evidence on the same from your officials interviews on radio and the official match report,” Somba-Banda wrote in the charges.

Silver general secretary Mike Tembo told The Nation that they accepted Chitedze for training after he was fired and that the Bankers sought clarification on the midfielder’s status with Sulom.

Chitedze admitted to the press that his contract with Nomads ends on April 4 2015 and that he started training with Silver after he was told to find a team following his refusal to join Wanderers’ youth side.
