Silver Strikers FC disciplinary committee has recommended suspension extension or outright expulsion of general secretary Mike Tembo to the board of directors following a disciplinary hearing held recently.

According to a report signed by the disciplinary committee’s secretary Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda, which The Nation has seen, the panel established that Tembo did not account for  K184 000 from proceeds of gate collections in matches against Be Forward Wanderers and Azam Tigers.Silver-strikers

“Some of the expenditures recorded [also] appear to have been exaggerated and some not supported by evidence. To this vantage, the panel recommends to the committee to either suspend the general secretary for a year since he is a first offender or to outrightly dismiss him from his position because the charge involves breach of trust and loss of confidence,” reads part of the report.

However, the disciplinary committee cleared Tembo of any wrongdoing in the clearance of Peter Mwenda and Dan Msimuko to Civo United.

“There was insufficient evidence on which to find Mr. Tembo liable on the charge of negligence in clearing Peter Mwenda and Dan Musimuko,” the verdict further reads.

Reacting to the development, Tembo said regardless of the board’s decision, he will not be willing to continue “because there are some forces that are working against me. I have taken the team from far and I believe with the squad that we built, we will be able to do well.”

Tembo also claimed not to have received the verdict.

However, the disciplinary committee has cleared vice-general secretary Madalitso Mazombwe on charges of embezzling funds and has recommended his reinstatement.

“There was no evidence at all that Mr. Madalitso Mazombwe ever received the money or that he was in custody or control of the money. The supporters just framed up the charge.

“Nonetheless, because of the demands of the job of general secretary, the panel recommends that Mr. Fred Kalonga should be maintained as acting general secretary,” the verdict further reads.

The Bankers’ disciplinary body also said it could not conclude the hearing of suspended supporters committee chairperson Paul Zoipa as it did not have sufficient material on which to conclude the hearing.

The club’s board chairperson Kelvin M’mangisa could not be reached for comment.
