Silver Ladies displace Bulletsat NBM Premiership summit
Champions Silver Strikers Ladies have vowed to keep the top spot in the National Bank of Malawi (NBM) Women’s Premiership after displacing FCB Nyasa Bullets Women from the summit during mid-week fixtures.
Silver Ladies thrashed fellow Lilongwe-based side MDF Lioness 3-0 at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe to lead the 10-team pack on better aggregate following a tie on nine points from straight wins and a six goal-difference with Blantyre-based Bullets Women, who secured 3-1 away victory over Fact Ladies at Nankhaka Stadium in Lilongwe.

Silver Ladies acting-head coach Shadreck Chikhosi said after their latest victory, they will not look back but push for more victories as they chase their title-defence dreams.
“Our latest victory is a defining moment in our bid to defend the title. We will do our best to avoid any slip up in our next fixtures,” he said.
Against Lioness, Silver Ladies broke the deadlock in the 44th minute through Carolyne Mathyola for the first half to end 1-0. Grace Kakangula doubled the advantage in the 69th minute Madyina Ngulube sealed the win in the 86th minute. Yamikani Mhango was player of the match for providing two assists.
At Nankhaka Stadium, Bullets Women maintained their perfect start with a 3-1 victory over Fact Ladies with Vanessa Issa opening the scoreline in the 37th minute before Martha Christopher doubled the visitor’s lead with an own goal in the 67th minute and Mary Chavinda made it 3-0 in the 73rd minute. Evelyn Dallas pulled one back for Fact in the 89th minute.
In another interesting match, Lilongwe-based Ascent Academy came from three goals down to force a three-all draw against hosts Mighty Wanderers Queens at Mpira Stadium in Chiwembe Township, Blantyre.
After Wanderers scored all their three goals within the first 23 minutes through Tawina Kawiga’s brace and Estere January’s third-minute strike, Ascent fought hard to pull one back before half-time through Funny Moyo’s own goal before player of the match Leticia Chinyamula hit a second-half brace to level matters.
The result meant that Ascent Academy remained third on the table with five points from three outings, just a point ahead of fourth-placed Wanderers Queens and fifth-positioned Lioness, who are tied on four points.
Elsewhere, Blantyre-based Kukoma Ntopwa Women registered their first win of the season after beating debutants and hosts Rumphi Sisters 1-0 at Rumphi Stadium.
Kondawo Banda scored the lone goal from a penalty spot in the 29th minute following a foul inside the box. Ntopwa has moved up from eighth to seventh place on three points.a
