Silver Stadium to host Standard Bank Cup semis

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has said Silver Stadium will host the two semi-finals of the Standard Bank Knockout trophy slated for this weekend.

FAM competitions officer Gomezgani Zakazaka yesterday said the game between Mighty Wanderers and Kamuzu Barracks will be played on Saturday while on Sunday there will be the capital city derby between Silver Strikers and Civo United.

Nomads general secretary David Kanyenda said they have no problems playing in the capital.

“We have fond memories of Silver Stadium having won semi-final and final matches last year in the same competition,” said Kanyenda.

While predicting a tough encounter, Silver chairperson McDonald Mafuta-Mwale said they will have home-ground advantage.
