Silver, Wanderers in TNM titanic clash

Mighty Wanderers and Silver Strikers take to the turf at the Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre in one of the most anticipated fixtures in the TNM Super League.

It is fixtures like these that decide titles despite being played early in the season.

The Central Bankers are buoyed up after a 3-1 win away in the North against Moyale Barracks to book a semi-final berth in the Airtel Top 8 Trophy.

In a pre-match interview, Silver coach Peter Mgangira expressed optimism of getting a positive result.

“We have a good feeling going to Blantyre after a good trip the previous week. Going forward, we are facing Wanderers who have good quality players. Not only that but they have an experienced technical panel. But we are ready and have what it takes to win this match,” he said

Mgangira, however, conceded that it will be a tough fixture looking at the capacity of the opponent.

The Central Bankers have been boosted by the return of key players like Zebron Kalima and Patrick Macheso who had been sidelined because of injuries.

“It ’s great to have players back from injury. It gives us the technical people more options,” said Mgangira.

Festus Duwe, who has been in great form in recent matches, is expected to lead the attack for Silver. He has scored four goals in the past two games.

The Nomads too are going into the match with encouragement after a 1-0 win over Creck Sporting Club.

Coach Bob Mpinganjira said he is happy with his team’s performance and believes they are on good course.

“We are taking each game at a time. Against Creck Sporting we played a good game despite the margin. Had we utilised our chances the margin could have been bigger. Going into Silver match, I am encouraged that in our previous game against Creck we didn’t concede. Silver are a good and top side but we are ready. I have faith in my players,” he said.

Promise Kamwendo, Gaddie Chirwa and Francis Madinga are expected to carry the offensive for Wanderers.
