Sparks at Inter-College Social Weekend

As the sun began to set on Friday evening, the excitement was palpable at Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (Mubas) campus, behind Kapeni Hostel.

The highly anticipated Inter-Colleges Social Weekend, sponsored by National Bank of Malawi, was about to kick off, and the atmosphere was already buzzing.

The open-air event, which marked the beginning of the weekend’s festivities, was a melting point of students from various universities across Malawi, including Mubas, Kamuzu University Health Sciences, Malawi College of Accountancy, Malawi University of Science and Technology and the University of Malawi.

The youthful academia dominated patronage coloured the outlook with laughter, chatter and the sound of music provided by DJ Salvo and DJ Tripple provided an extra excitement as they waited for things to get into full gear.

The costume party on Saturday added an extra layer of excitement to the proceedings. The creativity and flair on display were awe-inspiring, with students showcasing their unique styles and personalities through their elaborate costumes.

But the pièce de résistance was undoubtedly the music show, which took place at Mubas Grounds on Saturday evening. The venue was packed to capacity, with the crowd buzzing with anticipation as the lights went down and the show began.

The lineup of local artists included Onesimus, Eli Njuchi, Phyzix, Sly C, Charisma and Sean Morgan. The energy was infectious, with the crowd singing along to every song and waving their hands in the air.

Sean Morgan kicked off the proceedings, delivering a memorable set that included a surprise appearance by Sangie. The chemistry between the two was undeniable.

Sly C was next up, bringing the local vibes and getting the crowd moving with his hit songs. Eli Njuchi followed, delivering a powerful set that included a collaboration with Chizmo.

Phyzix took to the stage next, bringing his unique blend of hip-hop and Afro-pop to the proceedings.

Finally, Onesimus brought the curtain down with his show-stopping performance, delivering hit after hit and leaving the crowd breathless.

As the curtain closed on the Inter-Colleges Social Weekend, it was clear that this was an event that would be remembered for a long time.
