Sulom releases full fixtures

Super League of Malawi (Sulom) has released fixtures for the 2023 TNM Super League season which kicks off on April 15 with a clash between Silver Strikers and defending champions FCB Nyasa Bullets.

The Central Bankers will host the People’s Team at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe, according to Sulom general secretary Williams Banda.

He said: “Silver Strikers and FCB Nyasa Bullets match will officially relaunch the 2023 TNM Super League.”

In total, there are eight matches lined up in week one, four to be played on Saturday April 15 and the other four on Sunday April 16.

Moyale Barracks will be at home to Karonga United at Mzuzu Stadium while Mighty Tigers host newly-promoted Extreme FC at Mpira Stadium in Chiwembe Township, Blantyre on April 15.

Banda: We do not expect fixtures to change

Mafco FC will host Chitipa United at Chitowe Stadium in Dwangwa, Nkhotakota on Sunday April 16 as well.

Mighty Mukuru Wanderers host Civil Service United bat Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre on April 16 while Dedza Dynamos Salima Sugar host newly-promoted outfit Bangwe All Stars at Dedza Stadium on the same day.

Blue Eagles play Red Lions at Nankhaka Ground while Ekwendeni Hammers  take on Kamuzu Barracks at Mzuzu Stadium on April 16.

The fixture shows that the first round will end on July 23 while the season will wrap up on November 12.

Banda said the fixtures have been sent to all stakeholders and that they do not expect them to change.

Soccer analyst Charles Nyirenda said the full fixtures will help teams to plan for the season.

He said: “This is what teams have been waiting for and not the piece-meal fixtures which make it difficult to plan.”

Last season, the league kicked-off with the Blantyre derby between Bullets and rivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers at Kamuzu Stadium.The 2022 season wrapped up on November 19.
