Super League of Malawi (Sulom) says it has not abandoned its one game per week arrangement set last season.
The top-flight league governing body’s general secretary Williams Banda was responding to a question on why some teams are being allocated two matches in a week.

He said: “There have been no changes, only that those matches were rescheduled due to other circumstances, including national team engagements.
“So, all postponed matches are rescheduled to mid-week.”
Reacting to the arrangement, FCB Nyasa Bullets acting chief executive officer Albert Chigoga said: “We presume that Sulom is trying to manage the effect of fixture disruption whenever games are deferred due to the national team’s engagements.
“So, it is not a question of whether we are comfortable, but trying to manage the situation.”
At the start of last season, Sulom announced that as part of its Revive, Reform and Rebrand drive, it would no longer give teams more than one game per week.
But lately, notably last week, some teams such as Mighty Wanderers, FCB Nyasa Bullets and PremierBet Dedza Dynamos played two games.
The Nomads faced Mafco while Bullets played Dedza Dynamos in mid-week fixtures and at the weekend, Bullets faced Chitipa United while the Nomads took on Creck Sporting Club and Dedza Dynamos hosted Karonga United.
