Sunbird invests K1bn, to unveil new rooms at Livingstonia
Malawi Stock Exchange (MSE)-listed local hotel chain Sunbird Tourism plc says it will be unveiling its newly renovated and upgraded rooms at Sunbird Livingstonia Beach in Salima next month.
The renovations, which cost about K1 billion, began earlier this year to modernise and improve guest experience at the lakeshore hotel in line with global trends in the hospitality industry.
The renovations will also see Sunbird Livingstonia Beach increasing its room inventory from 35 to 44 rooms, while adding suites to the popular lakeside resort. All rooms will also be fitted with modern amenities and facilities, including high speed Wifi, digital satellite television, workstations, mini bars and storage facilities for guests
According to Sunbird Tourism plc chief executive officer Yusuf Olela, the new rooms will incorporate modern architecture and facilities, while taking advantage of the breath-taking views of Lake Malawi with an emphasis on improving guest experience.
He said: “This is a continuation of repositioning our products that began with Sunbird Lilongwe room upgrade and will see other properties being upgraded with Sunbird Nkopola set to complete its upgrade by first quarter of 2019.”
Sunbird Tourism plc is also building a modern convention centre at Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre.
The group owns eight hotel units across the country.
