Sunbird Mount Soche manager Joshua Shaba on Friday advised children of Chisomo Children’s Club in Blantyre to take advantage of the support they get to reshape their future.

Shaba said this in Blantyre during a special luncheon the hotel organised to interact with the children.

“There are many children who lack support you are privileged to be getting at this orphanage. You need to be proud of it. However, utilise the support for the betterment of your future. Being at the orphanage does not deny you any opportunity to succeed in life,” said Shaba.

He, however, pledged that the hotel including the other six under Sunbird Hotels Limited will continue supporting children at both Blantyre and Lilongwe clubs. He added that supporting vulnerable children such as those at Chisomo Children’s Club is part of his company’s corporate social responsibility.

“We started helping the orphanage in 1998. Our annual contribution towards feeding these children continues to increase,” he said.

According to Shaba, the hotel spends over K1 million (about $2 564) a year in supporting such children at the Blantyre club only.
