France-based women’s football star Tabitha Chawinga on Thursday night inspired her team Paris Saint Germain to the semi-finals of the Uefa Women’s Champions League following a 3-1 win over BK Häcken of Sweden.

They will now face fellow French women’s top-flight Arkema League side Olympique Lyonnais.

Tabitha: It would be a dream come true

Les Parisiennes will, therefore, be looking to topple the eight-time UWCL winners and book themselves a prestigious place in the final, which is set to be played on May 25 2024 at San Mamés in Bilbao, Spain, where the winner of this all-French double header will face the winner of the semi-final between Chelsea FC and FC Barcelona.

The Scorchers captain scored the first goal for the Parisians, who sailed through on a 5-1 aggregate, having won the first leg 2-1.

She scored in the 27th minute with a powerful left-footer which nestled into the back of the net after hitting the post.

The 27-year-old has taken her tally to four goals, three behind leading scorer Lyon’s Kadidiatou Diani.

Tabitha also scored a  goal in the preliminaries against Manchester United, but only goals scored in the group stages count.

In an interview yesterday, Tabitha said they are excited to reach the semis.

“Hopefully, we will reach the final, but we know it won’t be easy as we will be up against fellow French side and rivals,” she said.

“Getting to the final would be a dream come true, but first things first.”

In the French Women’s First Division Tabitha tops the scorers’ chart with 15 goals. She is also joint leading scorer in the Coupe de France.
