Tens enjoy Xmas urban explosion outside hall

It is high time Malawians start valuing entertainment as a service worth paying for.

Despite bringing together the cream de la crème of urban musicians and put up what can be termed as one of the magnificent music stage set-ups characterised by powerful sound equipment, disco lights, bubbles and smoke, Blantyre fans resisted paying K1 500 for the Christmas Urban Music Explosion at Motel Paradise on the  Christmas Eve.

At the start of the show, hundreds of people were outside giving hope to a jam packed event. However, a few hours later they could not be seen. Those that remained, probed event organiser Entertainers Promotions director Jai Banda, to consider reducing the entry fee to K1 000.

Nevertheles, a few managed as many demanded K500 which, according to standards was, worth less the show.

On average over a hundred patronised the show and, in a merry mood, danced to nobody’s like they had won the lottery.

History is fresh—urban musicians tend to disappoint, but maybe due to the Christmas mood they gave patrons a non-stop performance until the early hours.

Piksy, Tay Grin, Tigris, BlakJak and Barry One thrilled the audience, drawing them in choruses and encores.

Malawians are resistant at welcoming new songs, but they could hardly resist Blakjak’s new hit Manda aNkhuku which received a warm welcome and cheers from the audience throughout.

Jai said he was impressed with the performances, saying all artists lived to the expectation and did their best.
