Theresa Phondo in spotlight with single ‘Blessings’

Gospel musician Theresa Phondo is enjoying the international spotlight as her new song Blessings has registered 26 000 reel plays on social media and other global platforms.

The song’s success has also seen it being used by some famous celebrities such as award-winning actress and host Tamera Mowry, actress Shana Lynch of the Woman King, Marvel and 007 and renowned US pastor Devon Franklin, among others.

In an interview, Phondo said she is humbled by the success of her single which features Nigerian artists Sal Ly and Noel Mio.

“The single has made significant impact since hitting the airwaves. The song simply celebrates and acknowledges the presence of blessings while appreciating God’s love and support,” she said.

Phondo said her song was added to Spotify’s official playlist and has achieved remarkable success, reaching the third position in Niger and featuring in 12 charts in 10 other countries.

“These accomplishments showcase my immense talent and ability to resonate with a diverse audience,” she said.

The musician said she will continue to create more content and secure more international collaborations this year.

“On June 9, I will release my new single Victory featuring UK R ‘n’ B gospel artist Ryan Hylton.

“Fans can expect a powerful blend of musical styles and inspiring lyrics that uplift the spirit and reinforce the message of triumph in the midst of challenges,” said Phondo.

Commenting on Phondo’s approach to music and accomplishments, arts enthusiast Gray Kaili said the artist’s choice to collaborate with international artists is giving her an advantage to make progress on the international scene.

“Just look at what she has achieved with Blessings. Big celebrities are using her song in their social media posts. This is a huge form of exposure and endorsement,” he said.

Phondo is a former member of the youthful musical group, Zathu Band.
