Organisers of the Mulhako wa Alhomwe celebrations have promised tight security at this year’s annual celebration scheduled for this Sunday at Chonde Village in Mulanje.

Chairperson of the organising committee Leston Mulli said this on Sunday when giving an update on the preparations for the event.

He said all is set for the ceremony and they are happy that they have received more support from various people including people from other tribes.

Said Mulli: “We are more than ready for this year’s ceremony. We strive to be the best in organising events and we are not relaxing on every corner of the event.

“We have enough security officers to ensure people get into the fence orderly and that everyone receives the food. We will use the small gates as usual for easy control of the public and there will be other police officers in the fence to help keep order in the venue so that everyone enjoys the event.”

He also revealed that patron of the ethnic group Paramount chief Mkhumba will not grace the event because of his health.

According to event’s secretary, Pilirani Vokhiwa, there  more than  50 drums of masese beer, 150 litres of kachasu, two trucks loaded with Chibuku beer and soft drinks that can feed over  50 000 people.
