TIP Act launched

The Ministry of Homeland Security has today launched the Trafficking In Persons Act: Regulations and Standard Operation Procedure and National Referral Mechanism. The launched was presided by the Minister of Homeland Security, Nicolas Dausi at Capital Hotel in Lilongwe.

Maxwell Matewere a member of the NGO coalition against Trafficking In Persons, said the Act will help to control the trend of trafficking people which is getting worse.

Matewere said  it is mostly women and children who are trafficked for labour and sexual exploitation.

The TIP Act launch has coincided with the commemoration of the Trafficking In Persons Day which falls on July 30
