Super League of Malawi (Sulom) and sponsors TNM plc will tomorrow honour teams and players that performed exceptionally well in the 2023 TNM Super League season at a ceremony set for Sunbird Mount Soche in Blantyre.

Sulom vice-general secretary Donnex Chilonga said everything is in place for the event where FCB Nyasa Bullets will also be officially crowned as the 2023 TNM Super League champions. The People’s Team will smile all the way to the bank with K40 million.

But before that, there will be prizes for runners-up Silver Strikers who will cart home K15 million and third-placed Mighty Mukuru Wanderers who will get K7.5 million.

“We are just finalising everything before the event. We promise a glamorous event as we honour those that deserve to be rewarded for their hard work,” Chilongo said.

The event will also award the best goalkeeper, best defender, best midfielder, top goal scorer and player of the season.

In these individual categories, Sulom released names of nominees.

Dedza Dynamos forward Clement Nyondo, Silver midfielder Chimwemwe Idana, Bullets midfielder Patrick Mwaungulu and Mighty Wakawaka Tigers goalkeeper Innocent Nyasulu will battle it out for the Most Outstanding Player of the Season accolade.

Mwaungulu, Idana, Robert Saizi of Bangwe All Stars, Chikondi Kamanga of Silver and Lloyd Aaron who was with Civil Service United last season but has signed for Bullets, were nominated for the Best Midfielder Award.

Wanderers duo of Stanley Sanudi and Lawrence Chaziya, Bullets’ Clyde Senaji, Chitipa United captain Chris Lwemba and Silver’s Tatenda M’balaka were nominated in the Best Defender category.

In a statement, Sulom said the players were nominated by a study group comprising TNM Super League teams captains, coaches and fixtures committee members but the winners will be determined through voting via a TNM USSD code 451 while Best Goalkeeper and Top Goal Scorer awards will be determined by statistics.

TNM plc manager, corporate affairs Limbani Nsapato said the sponsors are ready to award exceptional talent.

Urban music artist Saint Realest is expected to perform at the event.
