Malawian players Jimmy Chikulekule and Sankhani Nyirenda have reportedly been released by their Mozambique top league teams Matchedje FC and Ferroviaro de Maputo respectively.

A source close to the development confirmed that while the ex-Blantyre United captain, Chikulekule, was eyeing a move to second division side Texta Africa, Nyirenda might return to Big Bullets.

“Jimmy is joining Texta, but Sankhani is opting for a return to Bullets to start a fresh,” said the source.

While reports suggest that Matchedje have offloaded him, Chikulekule last week insisted that he asked for a loan move. He moved to Mozambique on a season-long loan from United.

“Since the Brazilian coaches left, the locals were not giving me game-time, so I asked for a six-month loan,” Chikulekule explained through e-mail.

Nyirenda had not responded to a questionnaire at the time of going to press.
