Malawi Under-21 National Netball Team yesterday roared to an impressive start in the Netball World Youth Cup in Gibraltar by registering a 65-29 victory over Trinidad & Tobago.
In a match monitored on a big screen during a watch party that the team’s sponsors Mukuru Money Transfer organised at Blantyre Sports

In an interview yesterday, coach Noel Mussa described the huge win in the five-team Pool D as a boost to their campaign.
“This victory gives us the hunger for more victories in our next outings. I salute the girls for a wonderful performance,” he said.
Malawi U-21 face Fiji this afternoon before taking on continental rivals South Africa tomorrow.
The team will complete their pool fixtures on Wednesday with a clash against Barbados.
During the watch party, Mukuru Malawi marketing and partner lead Taleetha Jussab said they felt obliged to let local netball lovers enjoy Malawi’s first match at the global showpiece.
“As their sponsors, we are proud to see the team securing a morale-boosting win. We are confident that they will keep up the good work in their subsequent games,” she said.
Netball Association of Malawi vice-president Tadala Billie, who was accompanied by the association’s president Vitumbiko Gubuduza, said they were grateful to the money transfer company for organising the watch party and urged other companies to follow suit.
