Umodzi Park fetes clients, celebrates success

Umodzi Park, managers of The President Hotel, Bingu International Convention Centre and Presidential Villas, on Friday evening treated its Blantyre-based clients to a cocktail party at Casa Mia in the commercial hub.

The event brought together clients from both the private and public sectors as well as individual regular clients.

Speaking during the event, Umodzi Park chief executive officer Steve Lwanda said the event was meant to show appreciation to the bookers for their support to the hospitality entity even during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“As our regular clients, please be free to give us feedback both positive and negative because it is only with such honesty that we will improve and know if we are doing the right thing,” he said.

Lwanda emphasised that the tourism industry was suppressed during the pandemic, but that it was the local clients that kept it afloat.

On his part, Umodzi Park general manager Ronuel Malikita disclosed that for the first time in 13 years, the establishment posted a profit; hence, inviting and celebrating the news with local clients who patronise the establishment.

“Umodzi Park being in Lilongwe, our local clients come from Mzuzu, Blantyre and other districts, but our records show that the majority come from Blantyre,” he said.

Speaking earlier, Umodzi Park sales and marketing manager Matamando Chagunda thanked Blantyre-based clients for their continued support for the local tourism entity.

She further announced the introduction of a loyalty programme called the VIP club which enables regular bookers and patrons earn points redeemable at the spa and other partner shops.

“As an institution, our aim is to improve communication and relationship with all our stakeholders; hence the loyalty programme will go a long way in enhancing the same,” she said.

One of the patrons, Muti Chibwana, who is also National Bank of Malawi corporate affairs executive, said she felt good to recognise and encouraged other corporates to use Umodzi Park facilities saying they offer great food, high-class accommodation facilities and good conferencing facilities.

“Umodzi Park is like a one-stop shop since they have everything under one roof. You get value for money,” she said.
