Flames striker-cum-midfielder Peter Wadabwa says he is happy playing in his natural position as a forward at South Africa’s National First Division side Thanda Royal Zulu.
Since joining the team from Escom United in 2009, Wadabwa was featured on the right wing until February this year when the team’s coach switched him to the striking role.
He has since repaid the coach with four league goals in seven matches as Thanda fight for promotion into the Premier Soccer League (PSL). Thanda, who have a game in hand, are on second position. They are a point behind leaders Mpumalanga Black Aces.
“The coach says I will be playing in the position up to the end of the season.
“Though I was still doing well playing as winger, I was not enjoying my game. But now I will show my best in the South African football,” he said.
Wadabwa was an unused substitute when Flames beat Namibia 1-0 in the World Cup qualifier last month.
“But I have hope that when we play Namibia and Kenya at home in June, I will be given a chance,” he said.
Wadabwa’s compatriot Essau Kanyenda is also enjoying good form at Polokwane FC where he has scored four league goals and another three in Nedbank Cup.
