Mighty Wanderers have agreed not to honour the replay match against Silver Strikers as ordered by Sulom Disciplinary Committee on Wednesday.

The decision was made yesterday during a meeting involving the team’s executive committee members and supporters at their clubhouse in Chichiri, Blantyre.

This decision follows Sulom Disciplinary Committee’s ruling that the match should be replayed by tomorrow, without spectators.

Instead, the meeting instructed the club’s legal adviser David Kanyenda, who doubles as general secretary, to appeal against the verdict.

“We are not playing because we are protesting the same decision to order a replay.

“In as far as we are concerned, Sulom caused the violence that led to the abandonment and that is clearly stated in Sulom findings. Why, then, should we agree to replay?

“Sulom wants to use us for their own gains to please the sponsor that the league was conclusive. We are going to frustrate those evil designs,” said Kanyenda.

He claimed to have already drafted the grounds of appeal, saying: “Resolutions made today mirror what I prepared and I will make minor amendments to suit the supporters’ aspirations in line with their contributions today.”

The meeting further agreed to march to Sanjika Palace, Reserve Bank of Malawi and FAM offices.

“We are marching to Sanjika because we are bona fide citizens of the land to seek government intervention to ensure that this ban is reversed. We will invite other well-wishers and sympathisers to join.

“As for the Reserve Bank, we are saying they should stop sponsoring Silver because they are abusing taxpayers’ resources to sponsor violence as well as extra judicial killings, and let me stress that this march will be peaceful and we will seek approval from Blantyre City Council today,” said Kanyenda.

He said all Nomads fans are asked to meet at Wanderers Club by 9am tomorrow.

Efforts to talk to Sulom general secretary Williams Banda proved futile as his phone could not be reached.

As we went to press last night, Silver Strikers were scheduled to meet over the Sulom verdict.n

  1. The guy is mixing sense with nosense – why should he be jealousy with sponsors of Silver strikers yet him knows very well that malawi football is lacking sponsorship and teams without sponsors are strungling? He is right to chllenge the ban because it is mainly pushing players not supporters who are the main source of violence in this issue. There is no need to match to sanjika palace what for? Do you want the president to say something on this? People who have failed in this issue are SULOM adminstrators they didnt consider who should be punished and how. I suggest noma and silver should replay their match under protest as they go ahead with appeal just to conclude TNM 2012/13 season otherwise even the sponsor with be bored with delays after all silver was wining just take it from there and grant silver with 3pts and ofcousrse crown them champions as the worst will be deducting points since everybody knows what it means already if you deduct point from silver and it will look like you have taken sides. Punish supporters by not watching any match when these two teams are meeting for the same period of time. SULOM hsould also consider revenues if you suspend silver and noma as big games will be army teams plus BB basi and if BB will continue where it has stopped this season in next season i mean poor performance dont expect a full stadium next tnm super league game SULOM is very rude and dull. When is their term expiring? Akuti ngati ma transfers mukutengela ku england muwauze ma player azikasewera ku england komweko eish my foot what is this<

  2. I found Suloms report lacking in many ways. The reasoning or evidence behind most of their findings were not made public whch made the whole ruling a hoax. I.e. How dd silver start the whole fracas? Was it their players who abandoned the game and started beatng Noma suporters? Was it silvers officials? etc/.
