Zicco Mkanda scored in Liga Maculmana’s 2-2 draw with Gaborone United at University of Botswana Stadium on Saturday, his second in two consecutive games for the Mozambican club.

Mkanda came off the bench to earn Maculmana Mozambique Super Cup last week and did not disappoint when he was given a starting role in the CAF Champions League preliminary round match, reads Mmegi newspaper.

“Moemedi Moatlhaping cancelled out Maculmana’s first minute goal with a beautiful header in the second half, but their celebrations were shortlived as Maculmana reclaimed the lead immediately through Josemar,” reads www.mmegi.bw

“It looked like Gaborone United were headed for defeat until substitute Maposa came to the rescue in the dying minutes of the game. Gaborone United were in for a rude awakening as Zicco caught goalkeeper Noah Maposa napping on the very first minute of the match sending through a thunderbolt from 25 yards to open the score for the visitors.”

Mkanda played the entire game alongside midfielder Joseph Kamwendo and goalkeeper Simplex Nthala, added the newspaper.

In the Democratic Republic of Congo, Flames striker Atusaye Nyondo reportedly missed two clear chances in a CAF Confederations Cup, but his South Africa side Supersport United beat hosts Don Bosco 1-0 .
