Fast Boxing Promotions have organised an international fight involving Zimbabwean Brain Mwando and Felix Mwamanso.

The super middleweight non-title fight will take place at the Lilongwe Community Centre ground this Sunday.

Mwando, who has just opened a fitness centre at Nyambadwe in Blantyre, on Wednesday said he is ready for the fight.

“I knew about the fight a month ago and I have been training hard. I believe I will win come Sunday. This will be my first time to face this opponent, but I know I will win,” he said.

Mwamanso, who is camping in Nkhata Bay and is expected to arrive in Lilongwe tomorrow, also expressed optimism.

He is buoyed by his recent win over Tanzanian Bagaza Mwambene at Obligado Leisure Centre in Mzuzu.

“I am looking forward to this fight and I hope I can maintain my winning streak. It will be good for my international record. I have watched Mwando fighting Chimwemwe Chiotcha and I believe I can beat him. I am not underestimating him, but I believe in my capabilities,” said Mwamanso in a telephone interview.

Promoters of the fight say they have invested K500 000 in the event which will see Malani Kayuni square up against Philemon Nkhakamila Banda and Alex Chimbalanga taking on Robert Kachiza in supporting acts.

“This is an international fight and even some of the judges and the referee are from Zimbabwe and will arrive on Friday for the fight. We have not left anything to chance and we do not want any controversy to affect this fight,” said Fast Boxing Promotions spokesperson Japhet Majakete.

He said fans will pay K500 to watch the fight.
