The Bigman Gym of Matawale, Zomba has announced that it is also going to flex muscles for the first time at the 2013 Mr Malawi Contest which is being sponsored by ETC Agro Tractors.

The gym, which is owned by Bright Limani, will send four bodybuilders to compete at the country’s most prestigious bodybuilding event against the best on the land.

Chilungamo Sani, 21, Innocent Balala and Maxwell Limani, both 19, and Isaac Makiyi, 13, are the athletes to represent the Zomba outfit on Saturday at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe.

“We are ready and we believe we have done enough gym work to do well in Lilongwe. Of course, it will not be easy, but we are up to competition. There is strong drive among my boys,” said Limani who coaches and trains the athletes.

Inclusion of the four Zomba athletes brings the number of bodybuilders registered for the event to 36, according to Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Association (WAM) president Richard Kuwali.

“This will be a historic contest and no one is a favourite this time around,” said Kuwali.

He thanked the sponsors for attracting such excitement from bodybuilders.
