If I were

Goodall Gondwe

Vice-president of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) for the North, I would admit that my party’s youth cadets were right to walk out of the meeting I convened alongside Jappie Mhango in Mzuzu because I was indeed not the right official to hear their problems.

If I were the good ole’ Gondwe, I would appreciate that the cadets had a point that the right person to hear their problems should have been the national director of youth because they directly fall under him.

Oh yes, I would realise if I were my good ole’ man Goodall that it just requires common sense to appreciate that, according to the party structures, issues related to cadets are supposed to be handled by the national youth director and only if they fail to reach an agreement, then I am supposed to intervene as veep responsible for the North.

How I wish I were Goodall, because I would swallow my pride and accept that under the circumstances which the cadets turned their backs on me, they were not supposed to be suspended. I would thus reverse the decision and ensure that justice is done by ensuring that proper party procedures are followed as demanded by the cadets.

I would also realise, if I were GG, that when mere party cadets appear to know the proper methods than myself, then it is cause for worry.

That is if only I were one Goodall Gondwe. Unfortunately, I am not the DPP Veep responsible for the North.
