Streamline your leadership

The challenge with leadership is there’s always so much to do that you can get busy and not prioritise important things. Here are some clear ways you can keep your leadership focused.

Be strategic:  Your job is not to be busy, but engage on things that matter such as working towards getting everyone aligned, motivated behind a clear objective and strategy. Your ability to stay abreast of where things are, what needs to shift and leading the effort to steer things in a positive direction will earn you confidence.

Be visible: Visibility is not simply with your physical presence, but more importantly through the impact of your leadership. Make it your business to know what’s working well and address important things that may not be going well.

Be modelling: Modelling right behaviours and mindsets is compulsory for you as you need to be the number one role model. Always make sure people know where they stand because when they don’t, they detach emotionally.

Be courageous: Lead in line with where you need to get to rather than what you know. Otherwise, you’ll miss the opportunity to be as relevant and innovative to create new enriching experiences for yourself or others. Don’t hesitate to make tough decisions and implement the decisions humanely.

Be empowering: Let people know their responsibilities and what they are accountable for. Nurture an environment that stimulates a culture where people are willing to contribute fully in vital areas of success and participate in what energises them.

Be communicating: Own the outcome of your communication, not just the transmission. Understand the different segments of your audience and tailor your communications accordingly.
