If I were Goodall Gondwe
Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development, I would realise that it is irresponsible for a government battling a severe economic squeeze to cancel a contract with a US public relations (PR) agency after spending $150 000 (about K120 million).
If I were my good ole man Goodall, I would realise that the picture being portrayed is that government did not do proper research before signing the multimillion kwacha deal.
Oh yes, if only I were GG I would realise that for a country that has an acute shortage of drugs in public hospitals and needs handouts from all over the globe to feed about eight million starving citizens, it is a sheer waste of hard-earned cash to let such an enormous amount go down the drain.
How I wish I were the Finance Minister, because I would realise that the failed deal exposes lack of seriousness on government’s part.
That is if only I were the minister responsible for the country’s finances. Unfortunately, I am not Double G, not even his agemate.
