International Trade Fair opens
The 31st Malawi International Trade Fair has opened today at the Chichiri Trade Fair Grounds in Blantyre with 189 local exhibitors and three foreign firms participating amid high political uncertainty.
Although the fair opened today, no government official was available to officially open the event, a development that some exhibitors said reduced morale and patronage at the event.
Speaking during the opening of the 31st Malawi International Trade Fair at Chichiri Trade Fair Grounds in Blantyre, MCCCI chief executive officer Chancellor Kaferapanjira said the fruits of trade exhibition ultimately ought to be reflected in how much businesses are contributing and improving to the pace at which the economy is growingand improvement in the welfare of people of Malawi.
Kaferapanjira, however, said the official launch of the fair may take place after the start of the event, adding it is not the first time that the Trade Fairs have been opened after business has already started.
