Gaba curves another wonder free-kick

Flames striker Frank Gabadinho Mhango on Wednesday netted  from a free-kick in Orlando Pirates’ 2-1 victory over Baroka FC in the DStv Premiership.

The Bucanners had to come from behind to claim the victory against the team Mhango’s compatriots Richard Mbulu and Gerald Phiri Jnr’s play for.

Baroka’s Denwin Farmer scored in the 45th minute before Gaba levelled on the stroke of half-time.

Terrence Dzukamanja netted an 88th minute winner in a game monitored live on SuperSport.

On target: Gaba

This was a second goal from a free-kick for Gaba after also scoring from a set piece in  the team’s 1-0 win over AmaZulu last week Thursday.

Pirates are now third on the standings and they will qualify for next season’s CAF Confederation Cup if they defeat Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila on Saturday in their final game of the season.

Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer stressed the importance of the win as Bucs came into the clash with Bakgaga Ba Mphahlele having lost 1-0 to TS Galaxy on Sunday

Despite being the most outstanding player for Pirates on the night, Gaba was substituted in the second-half—a decision which did not go down well with the striker who visibly remonstrated.

But his coach Zinnbauer justified saying: “I don’t know, you’ll have to ask him. But it is normal you have a substitute. The guy wants to win. He had a lot of chances before and didn’t score. It’s normal as a striker you come out and then you have not a chance to make a goal

“But he had a good game, and he scored. It was important for us as he scored the equaliser.

“It was very important for us close to half-time and he had a good game.

“But next time, if he has the chance he can score.”
