Firm donates drugs to clinic in Lilongwe

TCGT Properties has donated essential drugs for malaria and antibiotics to Raine’s Clinic in Mtandire Township in Lilongwe.

Speaking during the donation in Lilongwe on Saturday, TCGT managing director Tiyanjane Chitaya said they want to donate drugs every month to help vulnerable people in Mtandire access medical drugs.

Chitaya, whose company produces construction blocks and also undertakes property management, said Mtandire is a high density area with no public hospital; hence, they felt the need to support the community.

“Geographically, we are close to where this clinic is operating so we thought of coming in and contribute. We are touched by Raine’s Clinic’s contribution of providing free medical services,” he said.

Raine’s Clinic general manager responsible for operations Tusekile Mwalwanda said the clinic operates as a charity health facility and provides free healthcare services to the communities.

She said the clinic, which was established to treat the less-privileged who cannot afford to buy drugs, mostly depends on donations from overseas for its operations.

“We get over 100 patients a day which can be overwhelming and most times we run out of essential drugs. This is the first time for a local company to assist this clinic,” said Mwalwanda.

She said they have partners from Canada who work hard to raise funds for the clinic. “We provide care for various diseases such as malaria, sexually transmitted infections and injuries.
