Creck stun Bullets in first-ever victory

Creck Sporting Club yesterday registered their first-ever win over giants FCB Nyasa Bullets after claiming a 2-0 victory in  TNM Super League match at Aubrey Dimba Stadium in Mchinji.

Substitute George Chaomba masterminded Bullets downfall, netting the opener in the 53rd minute before providing an assists for Jackson Beza in the 65th minute in a match monitored on MBC Television.

From the first whistle, Creck, who are now on position nine, showed determination as they  matched Bullets’ early dominance with resilience before gradually settling into the game with confidence.

Although Bullets created the first meaningful opportunities through Wongani Lungu, Yamikani Mologeni and Babatunde Adepoju, Creck’s backline, led by Hardy Ng’andu and Talandira Chigaula, stood firm.

The hosts thought they had taken the lead in the 34th minute when Gift Kadawati slotted home, but it was ruled out for offside.

Creck continued to press, with Harvey Nasiyaya and Frank Phiri causing headaches on the wings while Beza and Akuzike Lifa kept the midfield ticking.

At halftime, the match remained goalless.

The game burst into life early in the second half when Chaomba, who replaced Kadawati at the break, announced himself in style, heading in from a corner kick past Bullets goalkeeper Innocent Nyasulu.

Chaomba, who was voted player of the match, came back to haunt Bullets when he dispossessed Andrew Jovinala and set up Beza for the second goal.

Bullets attempted to mount a comeback with multiple substitutions and renewed attacking intent, but it was too late.

Meanwhile, Wanderers failed to utilise Bullets’ shortfall as they only managed to collect a point against Chitipa United in a goalless draw at Chitipa Stadium.

On the other hand, third-placed Silver Strikers defeated Civil Service United 1-0 at Civo Stadium through Innocent Shema’s goal.

The result means Bullets and Wanderers are tied at 56 points, but the People’s Team lead the table on goal difference but the Nomads have a game in hand. Silver now have 47 points.

In a post-match interview Creck head coach Elia Kananji said he was glad to finally defeat Bullets.

“They played according to instructions,” he said.

Bullets assistant coach Gilbert Chirwa described the loss as a big setback in their title chase.
