Teachers in Chitipa urged to uphold professionalism
Chitipa district commissioner Frank Mkandawire has asked teachers to remain committed to quality education despite working under difficult circumstances.
He said the council was aware of the challenges teachers were facing and urged them to remain professional.
Mkandawire was speaking on Friday when the council awarded the best teachers and students for their outstanding contributions in the 2024/25 academic year.

He said: “We know the teachers are working in difficult circumstances, but we would like to assure you of our highest support to address those challenges.
“Promotion is one of the issues the teachers are complaining about and we have already addressed it as 498 teachers have been promoted to various positions and that has created vacancies for other teachers to fill and we are expecting more promotions next year.”
The district’s director of education, youths and sports McGiven Chinyamula said teachers need recognition for their efforts.
In his remarks, Senior Chief Mwabulambya pledged to give a goat to the best performing teacher as part of motivation efforts.
Gilbert Newson, a mathematics and primary science teacher who received recognition for his exceptional results for three consecutive years, expressed joy with his award.
World Vision Malawi, NBS Bank plc, United Civil Servants Sacco and Tiwonge Mtambo, currently in the United States, supported the activity and the awards.
