Stakeholders in Mangochi have lauded Centre for Civil Society Strengthening Organisation for strengthening civic space through a project they say has empowered communities to defend their rights and participate in governance processes.
They made the remarks on Tuesday in Mangochi during a workshop on coalition coordination and networking and development of media features for civic space protection.
Mangochi district gender officer Pilirani Malonda said the initiative has strengthened collaboration among stakeholders while giving women and other vulnerable groups a platform to report abuse and seek justice.

She said stronger coordination among institutions improved referral pathways for survivors of abuse.
“The project has created a safe platform where women and other vulnerable groups can confidently report abuse while stakeholders work together to protect their rights and promote justice,” said Malonda.
A youth representative, Amina Alidi, said the project has empowered young people to speak out on governance and human rights issues.
“Young people now know that their voices matter and they are becoming active participants in promoting accountability and protecting civic space,” she said.
The organisation’s programme officer Sinya Msiska said the workshop was designed to strengthen stakeholder coordination and civic participation.
“Protecting civic space requires collective action and strong partnerships,” she said.
The organisation conducted the activity with support from Norad through Hivos under the Connected and Protected: Building Resilient Civic Spaces for All project in Mangochi
