Ndala: ACB received a complaint

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested principal secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife Tressa Namathanga Senzani for alleged crimes on corruption.

ACB spokesperson Egrita Ndala said in a press release yesterday that Senzani faces three charges against the Corrupt Practices Act (CPA).

She said Senzani may be charged with corruptly performing official duties contrary to Section 25 A (1) of the Corrupt Practices Act, intent to defraud contrary to Section 364 as read with Section 21 of the Penal Code and negligence contrary to Section 284 of the Penal Code.

“On 12th September, 2013, the Anti-Corruption Bureau received a complaint alleging that government officers at Capital Hill were making entries in the Integrated Financial Management Information System (Ifmis),” said Ndala.

She said the bureau immediately instituted investigations, which also found that Geoffrey Sinoya, an accounts officer at Accountant General’s Office tampered with transactions in the Ifmis.

“It also established that Senzani had instructed the ministry to make payments in favour of her company Visual Impact for no service supplied or offered to government.

“On 21st October, 2013, the ACB arrested Sinoya and Namathanga Senzani.

They will be taken to court for them to be charged after they have been interviewed on the matter,” said Ndala.

She said Sinoya may be charged with abuse of official powers contrary to Section 25 B (1) of the Corrupt Practices Act.
