The Ahmed Yusuf Dassu Trust at the weekend handed over two boreholes worth K5 million in Chikhwawa North Constituency.

The boreholes were sunk in Mwaveka Village in the area of Chief Maseya and Bwalo Village in Traditional Authority (T/A) Kasisi’s area.

A member of the trust, Timothy Chirwa, said the donation was made in line with the trust’s mission to assist communities by providing amenities such as clean water.

“It was the trust’s founder Ahmed Dassu’s initiative to drill the boreholes in this area as one way of sharing the little he makes from his farming business with the community.

“The number of boreholes that the trust has sunk in the district has reached seven and next week, we shall be inaugurating another one at Mapalera Trading Centre in T/A Makhuwira’s area,” said Chirwa.

He appealed to people in the area to take good care of the boreholes.

Kasisi thanked the trust for the boreholes.

“The importance of your gesture cannot be overemphasised considering the water problems we face in this area,” he said.
