Registration of teams in the inaugural Airtel Money Netball Championships has started at district level, Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) has announced.

NAM vice-president Chimwemwe Kachingwe said yesterday that the competition is open to any netball team in the country as long as they can pay K1 000 (about $2.50) registration fee at their district netball committee byThursday next week.

“The competition will start at district level on November 9. We urge all netball teams to register so that they can have opportunity to win outstanding prizes,” said Kachingwe.

She said the launch of the district netball competition will take place at Mangochi Community Centre ground on Saturday.

According to Blantyre District Netball Committee (BDNC) general secretary Annie Hanjahanja-Billie, Blantyre district teams should register at the Southern Region Netball League (SRNL) office at Blantyre Youth Centre (BYC).

Airtel Malawi unveiled the landmark K360 m (about $900 000)illion three-year netball sponsorship early October. Out of that, K120 million will be used annually to bankroll national cups and the national team, the Queens.
