The search for Miss and Mrs. Culture Malawi 2024 grand finale is set for today at Bingu International Conference Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.

Organisers of the pageant said 12 contestants will battle it out on the runway with 10 vying for the Miss Culture Malawi title and two for Mrs. Culture Malawi 2024.

In an interview yesterday, Miss Culture Malawi country coordinator Zahir Elias said the final preparations for the competition are complete.

“We’ve been working with the girls for months, engaging and preparing them for this moment. We are confident they will give their best. So far so good, we are doing great with the main stage so far at BICC,” Zahir said.

Elias said the contestants are promising and are quick leaners and show that they are prepared for what’s ahead.

Elias said: “The current title holder has done a good job in fostering cultural exchange programme and international relations on pan Africa. We are trying to put Malawi on the map through such empowerment and hopefully the next queen will be as proactive,”

As part of the boot camp activities, the contestants accompanied by Miss Culture Global, Casey Esmeraldo, Miss Culture Malawi Ireen Navicha and Miss Culture Dzaleka Shakira Phillimon went to Dzaleka Refugee Camp and surrounding areas to make donations to the less privileged.

In a separate interview, Navicha, who is the reigning queen, expressed mixed emotions as her 15-month reign comes to an end.

“It is emotional to say goodbye to the title after such a rewarding and life-changing journey, but I’m happy because I will be passing on the crown to a fellow woman with definitely so much to offer too,” she said. Both winners will walk away with K1 million cash and a trip to South Africa for a cultural exchange programme next year.
