Flames’ kit master Richard Justin Zawazawa, popularly known as ‘Dinho’, yesterday shed tears of joy when Ana a M’mudzi Development Initiative under Namasina brand surprised him with a two-bedroom house gift in Lunzu Township, Blantyre.

The house, whose value is said to be K7.5million due to the 44 percent devaluation of the kwacha last November, has been built on a 15×30-metre plot the non-governmental organisation bought for the national football team kit custodian in 2022.

‘Dinho’ said when he was called to accompany Ana a M’mudzi to the place yesterday morning, he was reluctant because he thought he was to be shown the same undeveloped land he was initially offered in 2022.

“This is a pleasant surprise for me because I did not have any clue that they had built this beautiful house for me. It feels like a dream,” he said.

“When they initially bought me the plot two years ago, I informed them that it could take time for me to build a house. I am happy that they have decided to give me a complete home.”

Ana a M’mudzi project coordinator Mwayiwawo Kamange said they are happy to have finally fulfilled their wish of honouring ‘Dinho’.

Fame Distributors managing director Felix Njawala, whose dog food distribution company contributed iron-sheets, said it felt great to have played a role in changing Zawazawa’s life.

“It really feels good to honour our heroes when they are still alive,” he said.

Ana a M’mudzi, whose founder is former Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) presenter and Big Brother Africa housemate, Fatima Nkata, thought of assisting the 50-year-old for his noble service to the national football team at the 2021 African Cup of Nations finals in Cameroon in January 2022, where the Flames reached the round of 16 for the first time
