Splendid and glamorous are the words to describe a free music show organised by National Initiative for Civic Education (Nice) to entice people to register to vote during the 2014 tripartite elections held at the Kamuzu upper stadium in Blantyre on Saturday.

There were thousands of people, young and old from different backgrounds. However, it was the youth that dominated the audience. As earlier announced, the day’s music performances were expected to start around 10am and to the testimony that paying shows starve many—the venue was packed as early as 9am.

The performances started a few hours later, but people could not leave the venue.

The event started by starring budding artists who were not on the list of performers.

The show took another angle when Ethel Kamwendo-Banda took over and it was her unfading Mwatikondera hit that received a good backing and dancing from the public.

Nesnes, Barry One, Gwamba, Theo Thomson, Blakjack, Mafunyeta, Bucci, Armstrong, Piksy, Maskal, Anthony Makondetsa and Black Missionaries performed in that order taking the show to around 6pm.

Most enjoyed the show, although organisation of the event exposed some gap.
