Artists urge youths to register
Renowned artists such as Chizmo Njuchi, Emmie Deebo, Blasto, Dan Lu, Lulu, Born Afrikan and Skeffa Chimoto on Saturday lit Civo Stadium with one message to the youth: Go and register.
The youth-focused music event proved an ideal platform for the youth who patronise shows.
While music took centre stage, speakers, including performers, intermittently reminded attendees of the importance of registering to vote.
They warned that young people hold key to shaping the country’s future through active political participation including registering to vote.
One of the event’s highlights saw Minister of Tourism Vera Kamtukule joining musician Jetuh on stage to perform the hit song Chakwaza.
Another moment was when Minister of Information and Digitisation Moses Kunkuyu who played a bass guitar alongside Lulu, as the audience cheered uplifting the atmosphere.
Event organiser Malawi Congress Party (MCP) member Vitumbiko Mumba urged the youth to seize the opportunity to register and vote to shape the country’s future.
He said: “Youths are leaders of today. They must go and register so that they can participate in voting during next year’s elections.
“The decisions young people make today will shape their tomorrow. For them to have a say in the country’s future, they must register and vote.”
