Heads are expected to roll on August 26, when Blantyre Synod will elect its moderator and vice as well as deputy general secretary during the bi-annual conference to be held at Multipurpose Hall.

General secretary of the Synod Reverend Alex Benson Maulana said reverends Robson Chimkwezule and Kutani will contest for the post of moderator.

“Those contesting in various positions include Rev. Edina Navaya, Mathias Hauya and Rev. Kadango among many others.

“On the position of deputy general secretary Rev. Billy Gama–former special adviser on religious affairs during the DPP administration –will contest against St. Andrews’ moderator from Nchalo, Rev. Moyenda Kanjerwa as well as St. James’ moderator Rev. Maxwell Songola,” said Maulana.

Maulana said the conference is expected to start on Sunday with the ordination of some ministers at St. Michael and All Angels.

Those eligible to vote will include, each minister and one member from a congregation, youth representatives and women guild representatives as well as women coordinators and observers.

The conference is expected to be graced by Bishop James Tengatenga of the Southern Malawi of the Anglican Council of Malawi and some of the delegates are expected to come from Mozambique.
