Bob back, wants Wanderers players to improve on diet

Mighty Wanderers FC head coach Bob Mpinganjira returned home yesterday from a study tour in the United Kingdom with an advice to his charges to follow instructions on diet seriously.

Speaking on arrival at Bakili Muluzi International Airport in Chileka, Blantyre, Bob said his month-long study tour at Scottish and English Championship clubs Partick Thistle FC and Queens Park Rangers respectively, was a big eye opener on the importance of players’ adherence to nutritional obligations.

“I have learned that the issue of diet is supposed to be taken seriously by our players if they are to achieve maximum performance on the pitch. I urge the players to always follow instructions on diet both at the club and at home. They should understand that not any food is good for them,” he said.

Bob, who was welcomed by his wife Mirriam, Wanderers director of football David Kanyenda and Wanderers Youth team manager Darlington Miseleni, added that he has learned how to keep his players in good physical shape ahead of matches.

On his part, Kanyenda said with the knowledge that Mpinganjira has gained from the tour, they expect the Nomads to win two or more silverware this season.

“We sent the head coach to the UK to see how fellow coaches manage their players to win games and we are confident that Bob is back loaded with the required skills to achieve great success,” he said.

The Nomads coach’s tour was made possible by Wanderers president and board chairperson Thomson Mpinganjira, who said during the recent 2026 Mighty Wanderers Presidential Ball Awards at Golden Peacock Hotel in Blantyre, that the coach’s attachment to the UK clubs could help improve his skills and was vital on the Nomads’ advancement of the ‘Making Wanderers, Mighty Again’ agenda.

Bob was named 2025 TNM Super League Coach of the Year after guiding the Nomads to their first elite league title in eight years last season.
