Big Bullets coach Gerald Phiri Snr has predicted that his job could be on the line following his team’s failure to finish in the top three of the TNM Super League.

With two games to wrap up the season, Bullets have 37 points and their maximum points were reduced to 44 that have already been surpassed by Mafco and Silver Strikers whereas

Moyale and Kamuzu Barracks (KB) are on 44 points, but it will take something extra to finish third or fourth.

With his voice straining with emotion soon after the 2-0 loss to Mafco on Saturday, Phiri said: “Coaching is about results, so we are not sure if we will remain for next season, but there is need to revamp the team.”

Phiri also said considering the team’s current performance, it will be tough to get maximum points in the remaining games.

“I just cannot understand what is happening, suffice to say we have a big problem. The players are able to take and apply instructions during training, but they are unable to do that in a game situation.

“Nevertheless, we will try our best to win the remaining games and see where it will take us,” he said.

This was the second successive league defeat for the People’s Team after the 1-0 loss to Silver Strikers last week.

One of Bullets’ senior players, James Chilapondwa, said he could not think of any reason for the team’s recent poor results.

“We have been dominating most of the games of late, but surprisingly, we have been on the losing side. For instance, in the games against Blantyre United, Mighty Wanderers and Silver, we had an upper hand in terms of ball possession, but we could not translate that into goals,” said Chilapondwa.
