FCB Nyasa Bullets this afternoon leave for Malabo, Equatorial Guinea to face that country’s champions El Dragón Fútbol Club in CAF Champions League Preliminary Round at Malabo Stadium on Sunday.

According to Bullets chief administration officer Albert Chigoga, the TNM Super League champions will leave through Chileka International Airport in Blantyre at 1.30pm.

He said the delegation of 39, comprising 23 players, 10 technical panel members and five officials, will be led by Football Association of Malawi (FAM) executive committee member Muhammad Seleman.

Meanwhile, coach Kallisto Pasuwa said his charges are ready for the match despite the team travelling without some key players due to injuries.

He said: “So far so good. As you know, the local games that we play here are different from these international matches. We need to be tactically good. Most of our training sessions were tactical. We hope for the best.”

The former Zimbabwe national football team coach said although he does not know much about their opponents, but will use his experience at international level.

Pasuwa said: “We don’t know much about them. All I can say is that as [Zimbabwe national football team] coach, I have been playing against them [Equatorial Guinea] at national team level and I know their style. I have little information about them. We will do our best to come up with good results.”

El Dragon were founded in 1967 in the city of Bata and they won their first national league title in 1983.

At international level, they have qualified for the CAF Champions League three times, but have never advanced past the preliminary round.

Bullets have also failed to go past the preliminary round for the past three consecutive editions of the CAF Champions League.

The return leg will be played on August 27 at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
