Bullets tie Singo to along-term contract

FCB Nyasa Bullets have tied Yankho Singo to a long-term contract which will see the midfielder staying at the club up to 2028.

The former TNM Super League champions in a statement said the contract extension is a reward for the Flames midfielder’s hard work.

Singo was promoted from Bullets Reserves in 2022 and has 50 appearances under former coach Zimbabwean Kallisto Pasuwa, who left at the end to the season and earned praise in his first Flames debut against Burundi in 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in November.

Newly-appointed coach Peter Mponda did not hesitate to keep the utility player for the next three seasons.

He said: “It is a reward to Yankho for his extraordinary work. Last year he was instrumental for this club and had a very good season. I am excited to have secured his signature on a long term deal and I look forward to working with him.

“It is important for us as a club to secure players on long term deals because it gives us comfort knowing that we are working with players who are committed to paying for the club. It’s also easy for me as a coach to do my planning and it is very motivating. It feels good that we have secured him and we are still working on other players to extend their contracts with the club so that we are ready for the new season.”

On his part, 24-year-old Singo said he was looking forward to achieving more glory with the People’s Team.

He said: “It feels good to be rewarded with a long-term contract. As a player indeed I had a very difficult season last year, but t it’s  water under the bridge. We must forget about last season and move forward. We saw how teams prepared for us after winning all the trophies in the 2023 season and we believe we have learnt our lessons.

“As a player, I believe that the secret to having a successful career is to listen to every coach. I don’t need to undermine him just because he is new or he was once an assistant to Pasuwa because now he is the head coach, he needs to be respected. I will give it all the way I used to play under my former coach and we believe we will have a successful season with the new coach.”
