Imbibers get ready! The the three-day Carlsberg beer festival is scheduled to rolls out on December 7 at Lilongwe Golf Club (LGC).

During a press briefing in Blantyre on Wednesday, Castel Malawi commercial and marketing director Chantal Akoumany said the second Beerfest aims to express the company’s “thank you” to all customers for their loyalty as the company celebrates 50 years of brewing Carlsberg in the country.

“The festival will feature beer, food, fun, fashion, arts, culture, games and music that will offer our consumers opportunity to enjoy our products, learn about how beer is made, its natural ingredients and various facts about the art of brewing,” she said.

“The event is driven for our consumer satisfaction, which is Castel Malawi’s priority. As a brewer, we would like to lead in offering our customers an international beer festival experience.”

Akoumany, who was accompanied by the Castel Malawi marketing category manager Twikale Chirwa, said consumers should expect beer prices to fall from K700 to K600 at the festival. She could not disclose a lineup of urban, local and jazz artists to entertain the fans.

Castel Malawi brand manager (alcoholics) Widdey Nsona said the festival, whose entry fee is K2 000 adults and K1 000 children, is for both individuals and families.

He said the children will have designated areas far from the site of the beer activities. Beer will only be sold to individuals that are above the age of 18, he said.

“Let me emphasise that the festival is for three days commencing at 10 am each day, but the children’s corner is planned for a single day the last day of the festival,” he said.

Nsona explained that there will be intensive security, paramedics and a fire brigade.

Last year, the Beerfest attracted over 5 000 people and more are expected to patronise the imminent event.
